On Nov. 25, 13 million people on Earth’s driest continent cast votes that shifted the global politics of perhaps the most challenging geopolitical issue: climate change.

Australian citizens — the world’s highest per capita consumers of coal — elected a new government to be led by Kevin Rudd, who campaigned prominently on addressing the climate crisis. Read More.

Focus the Nation National Teach-In

Focus the Nation is organizing a national teach-in day on January 31, 2008. Millions of students nationwide will participate in workshops to learn about global warming and brainstorm solutions to help fight climate change. Focus the Nation’s goal is to create a dialogue at over a thousand colleges, universities, high schools, middle schools, places of worship, civic organizations and businesses, and directly engage millions of students and citizens with the nation’s decision-makers. Over 1,000 colleges and universities have already signed on to participate in the initiative.
