State Director
SCOPE OF WORK:
Work primarily involves directing grassroots organizing, communications, and other campaign efforts on behalf of the Alliance for Climate Protection to advance the Alliance’s goal of educating the public about the causes of and solutions to climate change. Work will also involve a portion of time spent on activities for the Alliance’s sister non-profit corporation, the Climate Protection Action Fund, to advance its goal of promoting passage of strong federal climate change legislation during the current Congress.
State Directors are being hired for a variety of states across the country. Employment is “at-will” and indefinite with no minimum term. The salary for these positions varies based on experience and includes a generous benefit package. This position reports directly to the national field director.
Duties Performed:- Coordinate the hiring, training, supervision and evaluations of assigned personnel,
- Manage all aspects of the state budget,
- Plan and execute community events featuring surrogate speakers for scientific discussions of the causes of and solutions to climate change,
- Secure office space and procure utilities and other supplies as necessary,
- Work with DC management staff to draft and execute a state specific campaign plan; to include grassroots and grass tops organizing, executing press conferences and other events, political outreach and more,
- Direct local communications staff in the planning and execution of the state-specific press strategy,
- Direct staff in the distribution of educational materials and other communications regarding solutions to the problem of climate change,
- Direct field staff in the execution of grassroots organizing programs,
- Prepare regular reports on the results of campaign activity for Indiana’s national field desk , and
- Represent the Alliance at events and meetings as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:
Job requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6 years of campaign, public relations or non-profit experience. Requires extensive written and verbal communications skills needed to motivate and communicate clear messages to members and the general public on the urgency and solvability of the climate crisis. A strong background of field organizing and a working knowledge of communications work is preferred.
Insurability and license requirement:Possession of a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, the ability to be insurable under the Alliance for Climate Protection’s automobile insurance plan at the standard rate.
