Matt Tomaszewski is a multiple-award winning documentarian and environmental scientist who combines a unique and informed perspective of the ocean with a natural ability to explain its details and wonder to the lay person. Mermaid shows the impact of climate change on a coral reef told through the voice and perspective of a five-year old girl who thinks she is a mermaid. The colors of the life and death of the reef are vivid and striking and when you hear this young mermaid say, "Together we can save the world", you so want it to be true.

Sunny Day is a beautiful, stylistic film encouraging the people of Los Angeles to ditch the tumble dryer and encourage use of the eco-friendly washing line instead. Muller's brilliant use of music and sound helps deliver the message without a word being written or spoken.
Rupert Jones is a British Academy of Film and Television Arts nominated director of music promos, commercials, television and short films. In his allegory of teaching an old dog new tricks in What Does it Take to Change a Habit, Jones shows us an elderly customer's plastic bag habits are transformed by simply questioning whether she really needs one, proving it's never too late to change your behavior. Think. It will remind you of Monty Python.
Joe Cole is a talented commercial (Mini Cooper and Rolling Rock) and short film director whose work Idi Amin and Lucky Dog were showcased at the Manhattan Film Festival. In "Light Bulb", Cole writes and directs a clever parody of a how-to instructional film demonstrating how to replace old light bulbs for new energy efficient ones. Of course, if you don't know how to change a lightbulb, it is not so much a parody as a very helpful instructional piece.
Vernie Yeung is a Digital Pioneer who has worked extensively in commercials and music videos. Earth 2.0 powerfully shows the effects of different carbon moments of our lives such as driving and turning on lights by pairing them with different global warming moments such as glaciers breaking apart and falling into the sea. You can very quickly see and feel the impact you make with a simple flip of the switch.
Ed Roe is a British Academy of Film and Television Arts nominated writer/director whose credits include the TV series Teachers and Smack the Pony. In Rubbish he teams with prolific commercial and music video director, Dougal Wilson, to show how two young men compete for the affections of a beautiful woman by trying to out-green one another. It's better, funnier and smarter than most sitcoms you'll get to see - and that's not rubbish.
Chel White is a brilliant independent short filmmaker, whose work is very poetic. Wind is a montage of motion controlled time-lapse photography of the earth and weather. Set to a poem by Antonio Machado, White combines dramatic music and breathtaking visuals in this moving piece. It is hard to forget White's visual answer to the poet's question, "What have you done with the garden that was entrusted to you?" Narrated by Alec Baldwin.
